Relaxing in Pendleton

What a wonderful and relaxing two days this has been here in Pendleton. Yesterday we went on the Pendleton Underground Tour. How fascinating it was to see where the Chinese people lived while working in Pendleton and how poorly people treated them.

This morning we will be heading for Champoeg Park where we will set up camp for two days. We will be in space B-5. We are really excited about seeing everyone at the family reunion tomorrow.

Nasty Weather Again!

We arrived at a KOA Campground near Townsend, MT, at about 4pm. Both of us were pretty tired of traveling so it was nice just to kick back and relax the rest of the day. We plan on taking off tomorrow morning for the Kamiah, ID area and spend the night. Then we will head for Pendleton, OR were we will stay Wednesday and Thursday night.

The weather here isn't too bad right now, just a little overcast, but all the way here we had nasty weather, lots of rain and wind. We are both getting excited about finally getting home. It has been a long journey and I know that the Lord has been with us all the way.

Traveling Westward

Made it to Miles City, Montana again. This time we are staying at the KOA campground for just one night then on the road again. We hope to go to the area of Custer's last stand tomorrow on our way to Bozeman. God sure watched over us today, as we thought we were going to run out of gas. We are now only about 1000 miles from Newberg. Thanks for all your prayers. God's blessings to all.

Badlands of South Dakota

We spent several hours driving through the badlands today. What a beautiful sight to behold. All the rocky hills and the animals that live there. We saw plenty of prairie dogs and several bighorn sheep. There are suppose to be about 800 bison roaming the area, but we only saw one of them.

I still have to sort through all the pictures before I put them into our photo gallery. Tomorrow morning we will continue our journey West.

Visiting Wall Drug Store

The Famous Wall Drug Store

Margaret and I had lots of fun walking around Wall Drug Store yesterday. There is so much to see that it took all day just to visit all the little shops and exhibits. As you can see, we came across a couple of people that took us under their wings so no one would take advantage of a couple of green horns from Oregon.

One of the main exhibits is the life size T. Rex that wakes up every twelve minutes. Sort of impressive when you are standing next to him.

This morning Margaret got up and cooked me a really nice breakfast. Hard to believe that she has been putting up with me for forty long years. With the Lord's blessings, maybe we will make it another forty years....Ha Ha Ha Ha!!

We are getting ready to take off for a tour of the Bad Lands of South Dakota. We are taking a ice cooler full of water and pop to last us on the sixty mile trip. I will take plenty of pictures to post later.

Finally Warm Weather!

We arrived in Wall, SD, at about 5:30pm. We are staying at the Sleepy Hollow RV Park for the next three nights. We plan on visiting Wall Drug and the Badlands of South Dakota tomorrow and Saturday. The weather is going to be hot the next few days. Suppose to be in the high 90's. It has been about 15 years since Margaret and I visited this area so it is really exciting to see how much it has grown.

The next few days we are going to have a little R&R, then we will start the 1200 mile journey to Newberg for the family reunion. Tomorrow I will post a few pictures that we have taken over the last few days.

I hope all is well with everyone and that the Lord continues to bless each and everyone of you.

We are in Jackson, MN

We arrived at a KOA Campground in Jackson a few hours ago. Pretty nice campground and great weather. It is about 85 degrees out. We ended up staying at a small truck stop last night in Northern Iowa. When we took off from Illinois, a really bad rain storm followed us all the way. And besides that, while parked at the truck stop, a truck full of pigs and a truck full of cattle parked alongside of us. So, all we heard all night long was oinking and mooing.

We plan on getting a good nights sleep tonight and then head towards Sioux City, South Dakota tomorrow morning.

Brown Family Update

Hello everyone,
It's been a while since we blogged.... Jim and I are getting our house painted. The guy is powerwashing the house as we speak. Wes left for Boundary Waters with the Boyscouts yesterday afternoon and is supposed to arrive at his base camp today about 1 pm. He is in Minnesota. Then he floats the rivers in a canoe for the next 8 days. We miss him already....urgh. I hate it when my little chicks are away from home. This is "a once in a lifetime" experience apparently. Jessica just got back from Silverwood in Idaho. She had a good time in between thunder and lightening storms. Courtney is anxiously awaiting her friend Sky's visit who now lives in Maryland. She wants to take her with us in the boat. Courtney finished her 3rd dog agility class with Brooke and decided she doesn't want to do it anymore. So, I am going to take over and sign her up for more classes and train her. Well, that's about it on our end. The weather has been nice in the 80's and 90's.
Wes thought he could bring a box of boyscout Sees candy bars to sell at the reunion??? We'll see if they make it that far. Take care and see everyone next month.
Love Marty, Jim, & kids

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Thank you Jack and Sammy, Grandpa really enjoyed you singing Happy Birthday to me. Love Grandpa

Wonderful Visit With Louis & Family

Mary, Andrea, Andrew, Andrea, Bernie, Margaret, Lloyd

Yesterday we drove out to see Louis' wife, Andrea and her family in Carol Stream. We had a really good visit with them. Afterwards we drove over to the nursing home and visited with Louis. Louis was alert and seemed to know who we were. Margaret and Louis talked about when they were growing up in the Springbrook area. I took several pictures and a video of Louis saying "hi" to all the family.

Today we went over to Andrea's house again for a picnic lunch. We had lots of laughs and talked about times when we were growing up. After having lunch, Margaret and I dropped by the nursing home to visit with Louis. Louis was not doing to well and was sleeping so we didn't stay long.

Between the visit with Louis and his family, we did a lot of sightseeing around the Carol Stream area. I have placed several pictures in our Trip to Minnesota photo gallery.

We will be taking off tomorrow morning for our journey back home. The only places we plan on stopping to visit is Walls S.D. and Yellowstone Park. We made reservations at Champoeg park for July 31st and August 1st.

We Arrived at The Windy City!

We arrived at the KOA Campgrounds in Union, Illinois at around 5:30pm. Sure was nice to get all settled in. Now we can just kick back and relax for three days.

Margaret and I will be going to a small baptist church about four miles from here tomorrow morning. After church we will drive over to Carol Stream and pick up Andrea, then we will all go over to the nursing home and visit with Louis.

We plan on doing a lot of sightseeing while in the Chicago area. There are so many things to see. After visiting with Louis tomorrow we will go over to The Antique Village & Museum and the Wild West Town that is located next to the KOA Campgrounds where we are staying.

It's hard to believe that we are over 2200 miles from Roseburg, Oregon. So far our little pickup truck has been doing pretty good pulling the travel trailer. We have really good wireless internet service here at the campgrounds, so I will be posting updates of our tour around the Chicago area with pictures just about every day.

I hope everyone is doing well. Now if you have just a little bit of time on your hands, don't be bashful about updating everyone on how "You" are doing these days. Take care, and may God Bless

Wonderful Family Visit

Lots of Butterflies

Margaret, Lloyd, Randy and Bonnie

We had a great day in Minnesota yesterday. Started off with breakfast at Bonnie and Randy's house, then we all took off to the city. We stopped at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory where we saw some wonderful plants and animals. Our favorite spot was the Blooming Butterflies. The butterflies were all flying loose in a big greenhouse and some of them landed on us. We really had a great time just hanging out with Bonnie and Randy. Afterwards we went over to Frans where we enjoyed a barbecue and visited with lots of family. What a blessed day.

Today we head towards Chicago where we will stay a few days and visit with Louis and his family.

Pray for Raven's Health

She is getting her results back today... She might have diabetes and they're checking her thyroid too and something else??

Where is Chris located in Iraq... Jacin will try to find him to say hi..... What's his unit, rank... Jacin says the sand storms are calming down, and it was only over 110 degree's.

My kids are in camp 3 days a week for 4 hours for the month of July, keep us in your prayers.... God Bless, Tina and family.

We Arrived In Ogilvie, Mn

We arrived at the Woodsong Campground in Ogilvie yesterday around noon time. The weather was really bad, we had high winds and lots of rain following us all the way here. I just love the area, it reminds me a lot of Oregon. The campground is very nice too. We have our wireless internet, t.v., laundry, club house, swimming pool, and a beautiful lake to look at while we take our walks. Yes, we are really roughing it right now.

We drove over to Bonnie and Randy's house yesterday afternoon and spent several hours enjoying each others company. It was fun playing farkel (dice game) with them even tho the girls wiped out us guys. Bonnie and Randy put together a fabulous dinner for us. Randy barbecued some potatoes and onions wrapped in tin foil along with some pork chops. We plan on going back out to Bonnie and Randy's ranch this afternoon to spend the day visiting with them and other relatives.

When Margaret and I got back to the trailer last night the wind and rain was really bad. It sort of worried us a little because we are parked under several trees. Anyways, the Lord was watching over us because the storm past by without any limbs falling on our little home-away-from-home.

I finally got our pictures all uploaded on our photo gallery. Now all I have to do is fill in all the captions so you know what you are looking at. I hope all is well with everyone and that the Lord is working in your life as He is in ours.

Update On Our Minnesota Trip

Lewis & Clark Riverboat

What a lovely three days we have had here in the Bismarck area. On the way to Bismarck, we stopped by the Makoshika Dinosaur Museum in Glendive, where we enjoyed the afternoon looking at old fossil collections and life size replicas of all the different dinosaurs.

Yesterday we enjoyed just traveling around seeing the different areas of Bismarck and Mandan along the Missouri River where Lewis and Clark traveled.

This morning Margaret and I attended a little Baptist Church in Mandan were we listened to an uplifting sermon. After church, we went on the Lewis and Clark Riverboat that took us on a guided tour down the Missouri River. What a wonderful and fun trip this was and it was so informative. After the river boat trip we visited the site of an old indian village that was also along the riverbank of the Missouri River.

Tomorrow morning we take off down the road to Fargo, North Dakota, where we will spend one night relaxing and sight seeing. Then on Tuesday, we head down the road to Ogilvie, Minnesota, where we will be spending several days at the Woodsong Campground. While in Ogilvie, we will be visiting with Margaret's cousin, Bonnie and her family.

I will be sorting out more pictures to post on our photo gallery from all the sights we have been too.

From Jacin's Facebook

"Jacin Klopp hey everyone I am still doing well. right now in Kuwait they are going through some bad weather we are having strong winds which means sand storms and how that sucks. Tina please don't stretch out any of my cloths LOL"

Enjoying Miles City, Montana

The last two days have been really nice. Yesterday there were a few showers and storm warnings, but today it was clear skies and about 85 degrees.

We visited The Range Riders Museum and the Custer County Art Center. We took lots of pictures and had lots of fun. The funniest thing happened at the Art Center. While Margaret and I were walking along the hallway, looking at pictures along the wall, this large black dog came walking by us. The dog walked over to the Men's Restroom, pushed open the door, and started drinking water out of the toilet. What a sight, it was so funny. Click here to see the dog taking a drink picture.

In the afternoon, we visited the local park where we watched some young kids who were swimming. This is actually the public swimming pool and it is built out in a lake.

I will try and get some of the pictures sorted out and posted later this week. Tomorrow morning we are going to make our way to Bismarck, North Dakota, where we will stay for two days and just relax and sight see.

Staying the Night in Bozeman, MT.

We arrived in Bozeman. We will be camping one night and moving on. Had fun on the way visiting the old Montana prison, car museum and other museums. We have had some rain and thunder storms but all in all it has been nice. There were some steep hills to climb pulling the trailer but we made it. We took lots of pictures but probably will not get them sorted through and posted until later this week. Tomorrow we will head for Miles City where we will relax and take in the local sites for two days.

Our Visit With Riley

I am finally getting around to posting Margaret and my visit with our grandson, Riley on July 1st. It was such a blessing to be able to see Riley along with his mom, grandma Linda and grandpa Phil. We had a wonderful visit and played several games and watched Riley as he showed us how well he could ride his bicycle. (See more pictures in our photo gallery).

We Are In Yogi Bear Country!

Well, we arrived at Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Missoula, Montana around 5pm. Boy was it good to get settled in where we can now relax for a couple of days before taking off again. It is also nice that we will have Internet now for at least two days so we can catch up on our banking and emails.

I've been taking several pictures of the areas we travel through, but haven't had a chance to sort them out yet. I will probably post them in our photo gallery. I was really proud of our little truck pulling the trailer over the mountain pass between Idaho and Montana. The GPS has really worked out good and we depend on it alot.

Margaret and I just got back from our walk around the RV park. Now we are setting down for dinner. I will try and get some pictures posted tomorrow. Everyone take care and may the Lord continue to bless you.
