Relaxing on a Sunday

What a relaxing Sunday evening..... Margaret and I are finally starting to feel a little bit better. I think in a few more days I'll be back to my old self. We decided not to go to evening worship service tonight because of our colds. So I'm here catching up on my computer work and Margaret is setting in her recliner chair watching football. God is good all the time. All the time God is Good.

Over-Niter with Grandma & Grandpa

It is always a blessing when our two little grand son's spend the night. What fun we had watching movies and playing games. Even tho Uncle Lloyd, Grandpa, and Grandma was a little under the weather, we still had lots of fun.

Of course this morning Grandpa had to fix Jack and Sammy some pancakes. This afternoon Grandma put the boys down for a nap, but I don't think they were listening too her!!! (See below pictures)

Jack is really trying hard to take a nap ...

Sammy is trying just as hard as Jack ...

What about different denominations?

The reason there are different denominations within Christianity is because the Bible allows for us to have differences of opinions. Within Christianity there are very few essential doctrines that define what it means to be a Christian. These essential doctrines are:

  1. Jesus is both God and man (John 1:1,14; 8:24; Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:1-4).
  2. Jesus rose from the dead physically (John 2:19-21; 1 Cor. 15:14).
  3. Salvation is by grace through faith (Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 3:1-2).
  4. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (1 Cor. 15:1-4; Gal. 1:8-9).
  5. There is only one God (Exodus 20:3; Isaiah 43:10; 44:6,8).
  6. God exists as a Trinity of persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  7. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary (nature of incarnation).

Howdy From Roseburg!

Good morning to all my family and friends. Last night Margaret and I played bunko with a group of friends from our church. The fellowship was great and the food was delicious. I ended up getting five bunkos which really surprised me because I usually only get one or two. Anyways I got the prise for the most bunkos.

This morning we both feel a little under the weather because of our COLDS. This darn cold bug has been lingering on now for several weeks. We start to feel better, then it comes back again. How is everyone else feeling. I haven't seen updates from anyone lately.

Everyone else down here in Roseburg is doing fine. I think today we are gong to just take it easy and rest at home. All of you take care and may God bless each of you today.

Wisdom from the Hebrew Talmud

This is written in the Hebrew Talmud, the book where all of the sayings and preaching of Rabbis are conserved over time. It says:

Be very careful if you make a woman cry
because God counts her tears.

Every tear a woman shed is equivalent
of man’s sacrifices in life.

The woman came from a man’s rib,
not on his feet to be stepped on;
not on his head to be superior,
but on his side to be equal.

Under his arms to be protected &
near his heart to be loved.

Visiting Grandma & Grandpa

Margaret and I really enjoyed watching Jack and Sammy last night. What a blessing it is to have them with us. As you can see by the pictures below, Jack and Sammy really likes their ice cream.

Blessings for Bonnie

Below is a copy of Bonnie's CaringBridge website entry dated Wednesday, January 6, 2010 4:44 AM, CST. Let us continue to lift Bonnie and Randy up to the Lord in our prayers.

“For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude and the Lord a very loud Amen!"

Just thought I'd post a quick "Good Morning" to let you know I'm on the mend. Have been through my emails and made a list of things I need to do today. One is call our car insurance company to fix a couple spots in our windshield before they decide to grow in this cold. The next thing is take a nap.. :-) ... I think I'll alternate every other one with take a nap.

I pray all is well at your house, that you are staying warm, work is going good, family is well, kids are happily back to school, and the new year brings you more blessings than you could have ever dreamed.

An Irish Blessing actually says it all "May you always have work for your hands to do. May your pockets hold always a coin or two. May the sun shine bright on your windowpane. May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of a friend always be near you. And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.” Prayers N Hugs Bonnie

Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Christian One-Liners

Don't let your worries get the best of you;
Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited
Until you try to sit in their pews.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Many folks want to serve God,
But only as advisers.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The good Lord didn't create anything without
A purpose, But mosquitoes come close.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

When you get to your wit's end,
You'll find God lives there.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

People are funny; they want the front of the bus,
Middle of the road, And back of the church.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Opportunity may knock once,
But temptation bangs on the front door forever.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Quit griping about your church;
If it was perfect, you couldn't belong.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If a church wants a better pastor,
It only needs to pray for the one it has.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We're called to be witnesses, not lawyers or Judges.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God Himself doesn't propose to judge a man until
He is dead. So why should you?
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some minds are like concrete
Thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Peace starts with a smile.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

I don't know why some people change churches;
What difference does it make which one you stay home from?
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

A lot of church members singing 'Standing on the Promises'
Are just sitting on the premises.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Be ye fishers of men.
You catch 'em - He'll clean 'em.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Stop, Drop, and Roll won't work in Hell.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Forbidden fruits create many jams.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God doesn't call the qualified,
He qualifies the called.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God grades on the cross, not the curve.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God loves everyone, But probably prefers
'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God promises a safe landing,
Not a calm passage.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

He who angers you,
Controls you!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If God is your Co-pilot,
Swap seats!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Prayer: Don't give God instructions,
Just report for duty!
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The task ahead of us is never as
Great as the Power behind us.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The Will of God never takes you to where the
Grace of God will not protect you.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We don't change the message,
The message changes us.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

You can tell how big a person is
By what it takes to discourage him.
*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

Good Morning!

Good morning from Roseburg... Yes, we are now officially in the year 2010. Margaret and I are up early to start our first day at the Y this year. I think I gained at least ten pounds over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Anyways, we want to start off the new year right by keeping up our exercise program.

Between the volunteer work at church and hospice, playing bingo, home improvements, and enjoying our grand kids, our retirement seems to be fulfilled. Thank you Lord for all the blessings You have given us.

I haven't seen any updates from anyone lately! It would be really nice to hear how you are doing. If anyone gets a chance, toss in an updated picture or two in the Family Blog Slide show.

Well well well... Margaret just talked me out of going down to the Y to exercise because of our "COLDS". I got to tell you, it didn't take much talking to get me to agree because my nose is so plugged up.

Got to go, so everyone take care and may God bless.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Margaret and I wish each and everyone of you a Happy New Years. May our Lord bless each day of the year for you and give you the joy, peace and happiness that only He can bring.

I took this poem from Bonnie's CaringBridge website:

Another fresh new year is here . . .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”
