Uncle Johnny


John Anderson, Jr. April 6, 1913 - February 18, 2009 SILVERTON - John was born on April 6, 1913 in Lone Elm, Kansas to John and Rachael Anderson. He passed away on February 18, 2009. John moved to Oregon in 1939 and married Mary Vaughan in 1942. He drove trucks for the Marion County Highway Department for 28 years before his retirement. John was a member of First Christian Church in Silverton and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, bowling (three leagues during the winter), and trips to Reno. John is survived by his wife, Mary of Silverton; daughters, Neomi (Ray) Sanders of Silverton, Betty (Doug) Livesay of Hermiston, and twins, Loraine (LeRoy) Satter of Tillamook and Louise (Spence) Mahnkey of Salem; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six siblings and a granddaughter, Nicole Livesay. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Miller Cemetery in Silverton. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 402 N. First Street, Silverton, Oregon 97381. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton.

  1. Rusty and I attended the graveside service this afternoon.Was not a large service and most of the people there were the children and their families. It was nice to get to meet them. Aunt Mary and the girls are doing fine considering the circumstances. They know that he is with the Lord and they will one day all be together again. He lived a long and full life but he will still be missed by all.
